Dr. Peter M. Shedden is an established and prominent neurosurgeon who is board certified in both Canada and the USA. His pre-medical training was completed at the University of Toronto where he received a BSc degree in Anatomy and Physiology, and an MSc degree for research pertaining to spinal cord development. Dr. Shedden obtained his medical degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and received his neurosurgical training from the University of Toronto. Fellowship training in neurotrauma and cerebrovascular neurosurgery was completed at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. In 1992 he moved to the USA and started as assistant professor of Neurosurgery at UTHSC until starting private practice in 1997.
Dr. Shedden has extensive training in all areas of neurosurgery, including but not limited to cerebrovascular, neurotrauma, brain tumors, micro neurosurgery, functional neurosurgery (trigeminal procedures), spinal surgery and peripheral nerve surgery including brachial plexus. He has well over 15 years of experience in stereotactic radiosurgery (Gamma Knife).
He is a member of multiple national and international organizations including the AANS, CNS, CSNS, CCNS and past president of the Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is currently the Director of the Neuroscience Program at St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital and was instrumental in bringing the newest Gamma Knife technology “The Perfexion” to Montgomery County.
