Non Operative Care

Non-operative care of spine related problems is a significant portion of the care and treatment of spinal disorders and treatments. Did you know that spine problems are the second most prevalent reason for days missed in the work force, only behind the common cold? Of all reported spine issues 90% are treated with surgery. Knowing just these two facts, we are especially attentive to those patients with spine injuries and disorders that are not necessarily amenable to surgery.

We make a special effort to see and evaluate patients within 48 hours of their calls to the office. This initial evaluation can expedite their immediate care in an effort to satisfy their needs and return them to a functional status as soon as possible. We are well versed in all diagnostic and treatment modalities associated with non-surgical treatment of spine pain, both of the neck and lower back. These treatment modalities include X-rays, MRI, myelogram, CAT scan, EMG, nerve blocks and joint injections. Treatment modalities are concentrated in the realm of medication, physical therapy, exercise and passive modalities including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, tractions, tens application and massage. The indications of traction, bracing and intra muscular injections are also part of our treatment regime.

All types of spine related problems are initially treated non-surgically in hopes of achieving resolution of pain and greater function ability, even those problems that are commonly considered only surgical.
