Lumbar Spondylolisthesis
Lumbar spondylolisthesis refers to the slip of one vertebra, usually forward, over the vertebra below it. Causes for lumbar spondylolisthesis include degeneration of the joints of the spine, a defect in a portion of the bone that resembles a stress fracture, and trauma. Lumbar spondylolisthesis can result in low back pain and compression of the nerves that go to the legs, resulting in leg pain, numbness, tingling or weakness. Spondylolisthesis can be asymptomatic. Treatment options include physical therapy and pain management. For persistent symptoms, surgery may be an option.
